Jarrod Brown Director, Global Learning

Brown has served in leadership positions in the higher education space in the United States and Malaysia. He has also led India’s largest tutoring company as well as India’s first major off-shore business-to-customer venture.

Jarrod’s past professional appointments include – The Center for Learning, Teaching, Communication and Research, formerly the Center for Effective Communication, (USA), The World Affairs Council’s College Consortium for International Education (USA & Malaysia), and The National Institute for Excellence in Teleworking (India). He was the founding Academic Director of TutorVista, where he oversaw academics for over 2000 tutors in the USA and India. He has served as Executive Director of Woodford and Wheeler International Cultural Consultants (USA & India).

Brown has worked extensively in the United States and India in the areas of tutoring and effective communication and contributed by developing one of India’s first remote training programs which is now used to train thousands of educators each year. In addition to his work in teacher training and development, Jarrod has spent a considerable amount of time conducting research and writing on the subject of Islamic law. He has presented research on the influence of Hinduism in Japan, and has published in the areas of Indian religious literature, modern Hinduism and e-learning and is a frequent guest lecturer in the area of effective communication as well as South Asian philosophy.

Brown holds a BA degree from Berea College, an MA from the University of Hawai'i and a Certificate in Southeast Asian Studies from the Universiti Sains Malaysia. He is currently working to earn a Ph.D. at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. Brown has been the recipient of numerous academic awards and grants, including the Freeman Asia Foundation research grant, the Millicent Bates Miller Award, the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation award, amongst others.
