- 40 questions in the section
- 60 minutes for the entire section
- 3 parts in the Reading Section
- Part 1 may contain two or three short texts or several shorter texts.
- Part 2 comprises two texts.
- Part 3 there is one long text.
- The passages may include advertisements, leaflets, instruction manuals and articles.
Scoring Pattern (Band Chart)
- Each question is worth 1 mark
- A band score conversion table is produced which translates scores out of 40 into the IELTS 9-band scale.
- Scores are reported in whole bands and half bands
- There is no negative marking.
